Breaking News: How Interpreters Can Be Ready for Nearly Everything

June 18, 2024

Join this webinar to explore the dynamic world of broadcast interpreting, focusing on strategies to help you stay ahead in breaking news scenarios.

Broadcast interpreting poses unique challenges akin to those journalists face—being prepared to cover any topic at a moment’s notice without losing clarity. This webinar examines the strategies used in interpreting live, breaking news and global events on a major news channel. From the pandemic and the 2020 U.S. elections (including the January 6 insurrection and the inauguration) to geopolitical shifts such as the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, we’ll navigate diverse and intense scenarios, emphasizing mental well-being amidst high-pressure situations. Discover tools for swift preparation, vocabulary readiness, and resilience, applicable not only in breaking news interpreting but in handling unexpected interpreting tasks across various fields.

You will learn how to:

  1. Master broadcast interpreting techniques.
  2. Prepare for urgent tasks.
  3. Build teams for last-minute assignments.
  4. Maintain mental well-being when dealing with emotionally challenging topics.
